When analyzing a bearing during periodic equipment inspection, operating inspections or replacement of adjacent parts, the condition of the bearing should be determined.

The following points need to be considered when evaluating whether a bearing can be reused or replaced: abnormalities and damage located on the rolling surface (raceway / ball / roller), sliding surface (roller end / rib / flange / cage), outside surface, on the components (ring / ball / roller / cage), or on the entire bearing.

If the inspection uncovers any damage which would prevent the bearing from being reused, then the bearing must be replaced with a new one.
