History
An important customer was not satisfied with the performance of the four-row tapered roller bearings in his cold rolling mill, due to the impact of the extreme conditions - steel shavings from the production process.
Corrective Measures
NSK made an analysis of the bearings, the grease, the structure and the design of the billet mill in order to specify the real operating conditions. The use of bearings WTF266KV3552, made of the new WTF steel, were proposed to the customer. This type of steel is appropriate for extreme operating conditions, both for solid and liquid contamination. New bearings reached a life of 2,700 hours while the old bearings only reached 800 hours.
