NSK Steering Systems Receives Certificate of Achievement from BAMA

NSK Steering Systems America (NSSA) Receives Attendance Award from Bluegrass Automotive Manufacturing Association  (BAMA)

BAMA recently awarded NSK Steering Systems America a Certificate of Achievement for attendance and participation with the association.

Earlier this year, the NSSA Bennington Plant hosted on-site workshops for the GR8 Lakers Region of BAMA (Bluegrass Automotive Manufacturers Association), which includes Toyota suppliers from the Great Lakes area and Canada.  BAMA is a Toyota supplier organization whose purpose is to share the Toyota philosophy, techniques, and experiences with the supply base.

This was the first time NSSA has hosted a BAMA event. BAMA participants from Toyota Canada, Toyota Engineering and Manufacturing and several other key Toyota suppliers joined hands-on, interactive workshops. There were five teams consisting of Toyota employees and visiting suppliers, all led by NSSA Team Leaders.

The BAMA Teams identified and categorized wastes, then developed countermeasures for improvement. In all, 57 Problem Follow-ups (PFU’s) were written to reduce or eliminate waste and inefficiencies.

According to the BAMA teams and Toyota, the event was a success.  The event further enhanced Toyota’s impression of NSSA and our ability to supply high quality steering columns.  In addition, the sharing of continuous improvement methods between NSSA and Toyota will lead to better working relationships, long-term growth and mutual prosperity.
