NSK Commercializes New Standard of High-Performance HPS Angular Contact Ball Bearings for Industrial Machinery
-Promoting lower operating costs, higher efficiency, higher reliability, and highly accurate positioning
NSK Ltd. announced it has developed and commercialized a new standard series of high-performance HPS angular contact ball bearings for industrial machinery such as pumps or compressors. HPS angular contact ball bearings facilitate the extension of service life and increased permissible speed while maintaining highly accurate positioning.
Industrial machinery such as pumps, compressors, gearboxes, and robots require high reliability in various environments, in addition to ease of maintenance, reduced operating costs, high efficiency, low energy consumption, and environmental friendliness. Therefore, the bearings used for industrial machinery require long service life, high-speed rotation capability, and high accuracy. NSK has responded to these needs with the development and commercialization of a new standard of high-performance HPS angular contact ball bearings possessing the following features for industrial machinery.
Features
1. Contributing to reduced operating costs of industrial machinery by improving service life
By optimum internal design of the bearing and proprietary material technology, bearing life was improved by up to 90% in comparison to conventional NSK products. Thus, the frequency of maintenance is reduced, and as a result, operating costs are reduced. In addition, if equivalent life is sufficient for a given application, smaller bearings of this series can be mounted for use in smaller machinery, thus helping to reduce energy costs.
2. Contributing to high-speed operation of industrial machinery by increasing the permissible speed
By optimum internal design of the bearing and precise processing and manufacturing technology, permissible speed of the bearing was increased 15 – 20% in comparison to conventional bearings. Thus, the high-speed operation of industrial machinery becomes possible, and as a result, working efficiency is improved.
3. Standard stock of universal arrangement* bearings easily facilitates highly accurate positioning in the axial direction
Using precise processing and manufacturing technology, a running accuracy to ISO tolerance class 5 and a dimensional accuracy to ISO tolerance class 6 enable interchangeable matching of these bearings, which ensures highly accurate positioning. Thus, assembly and maintenance of industrial machinery becomes easy, and as a result, the efficiency of machinery is improved at the same time.
4. Contributing to the improvement of reliability of industrial machinery by providing three types of cages
NSK has offered a lineup of cage materials to choose from: brass, glass-fiber reinforced polyamide 46, which offers high strength at high temperatures; linear polyphenylene sulphide (L-PPS) resin, which offers superior oil and chemical resistance. Thus HPS angular contact ball bearings can contribute to improving reliability to meet the needs of today’s industrial machianery.
*Universal arrangement allows for interchangeable matching of single-row bearings with offset specifically controlled on both sides.
