Damage by Location
When analysing a bearing during periodic inspection of equipment, operating inspections, or replacement of adjacent parts, the condition of the bearing should be determined.
The following points need to be considered when evaluating whether a bearing can be reused or not: abnormalities and damage located on the rolling surface (raceway / Ball / Roller), sliding surface (roller end / rib / flange / cage), outside surface, on the components (ring / ball / roller, cage), or on the entire bearing.
If the inspection discovers any damage, which would prevent the bearing from being reused, then the bearing must be replaced with a new one.
